Audible sigh...
The first practice for the new Rose City Rollers Fresh Meat team is tonight. Somehow the world of derby is moving on without me, as I sit here on my sore ass wishing I was somewhere else.
Lots of unfortunate and uneccesary myspace voyeurism on my part of "see you at practice tonight" messages and such. Bad times, I say.
I really thought my life would be very different this summer. I was ready to throw myself wholly and completely into the derby, practicing, training outside of practice, and getting totally involved with the league. I'm just a smidge lost, if I do say so myself.
I'd like to congratulate myself, however, for the most self-pitying pathetic post thus far.
Go me.

I don't think anything is passing you by. This is just not the right time. As soon as you are feeling better and ready to go again, it's gonna all come together amazingly.
On a lighter note, out of all the myspace voyeurism... you got a favorite pick for me to start smacking around for you?

I'm with the lovely Ms. Hell, things are not passing you by. Get thyself to the pool, continue to do whatever cardio and weight training you can. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Once you are at least out of most of the pain, can you get involved with the league in some other capacity? Reffing? keeping stats? something to keep you involved?
hang in there. consider this fodder for your roller derby girl triumphant autobiography.

That is indeed a bummer, and being the owner of a once broken butt I truly sympathize. But you know, even if you aren't with the league yet you can still come hang out with us! There are always rollergirl-related activities/fundraisers/parties going on. Tonight the roller girls' host karaoke at Sabala's. And we always need volunteers for the bout! Getting involved now and getting to know people will really help your entrance to the league once you're healed.
GO SLAMAZON! We're all rooting for you.
